Artificial Intelligence and its Impact on Wireless Infrastructure

Iris troiano, evp of professional services contributes to wia white paper exploring the impacts of ai on the wireless industry

We’re inundated with new AI tools and applications and the potential seems limitless. Artificial Intelligence is being used in several places in the wireless industry including in business operations of mobile network operators (MNOs), in the RAN, and on the actual mobile device. But there will be much more to come as AI advances and companies and users derive it’s true value and best applications. As it evolves, AI decisions made by the MNOs will impact the entire wireless infrastructure sector.

Network Connex joins forces with Critical Infrastructure Partners on Blue Ridge Run Network

PARTNERING TO CLOSE A GAP IN NATIONAL FIBER INFRASTRUCTURE ROUTES IN THE SOUTHEAST US

DOWNERS GROVE, IL, UNITED STATES, August 25, 2023– Network Connex, a leader in the design and deployment of digital communications infrastructure, has been tapped by Critical Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to provide comprehensive Professional Services including feasibility studies, fiber engineering, and permitting services for the much-anticipated Blue Ridge Run Network.

“We are excited to leverage our professional services expertise as a strategic partner to CIP in support of this much needed project and are full speed ahead.” Greg Spraetz, Chief Revenue Officer, Network Connex

This new, uniquely diverse, low latency route will span 767 miles, connecting Ashburn, Virginia, Nashville, Tennessee, and Huntsville, Alabama and will bring fiber broadband closer to rural communities in the Southeast region. Construction of the route is planned in two phases, with Phase I slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. The initial phase will include design and construction of two fiber rings in Ashburn, Virginia connecting to the ~40-mile hyperscale fiber ring currently under construction to unite Frederick, Maryland data centers with the vital data center alley in Ashburn, Virginia. From there, Phase II of the Blue Ridge Run Network will continue southwest toward Bristol, Virginia. In addition to providing planning and design expertise in the early stages, Network Connex will support the project with Construction and crucial Program Management oversight that orchestrates the many moving parts as the network converges.

“We feel we have identified a gap in the national fiber infrastructure routes that, when filled, will provide reduced latency and redundancy to a much-needed route traversing the East Coast through the Mid-Atlantic region. In addition, it will deliver robust capacity and the opportunity to replace existing aging infrastructure,” said Matthew Chapdelaine, Managing Partner, Critical Infrastructure Partners.

CEO Chris Larocca featured in Fierce Telecom article

Network Connex CEO, Chris Larocca, was recently featured in a Fierce Telecom article speaking about the current state of the labor market and the potential that customers may struggle to secure capital or borrowing approval to carry out planned fiber expansions. Chris noted that despite the challenges of today’s economy, Network Connex revenue has been growing at 30-40% per year, bolstered by a recent acquisition of resources and opportunities in the Pacific Northwest which is a hotspot for data center and residential fiber deployments. Network Connex’s strong financial position, and continued backing and guidance by Orix Capital Partners, helps instill trust in potential customers and keep new opportunities coming. Chris ends with an observation that if the capex market slows down, that would indicate a true market concern for him.  Read the full article here.
